Logan Airport to the Boston cruise port: Silver Line, taxi or drive
Logan Airport is 2.8 to 4 miles from the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal by the cruise lines' own figures, and Holland America put a taxi at about $40 when we checked on 3 November 2026. The Silver Line SL1 is free from every airport terminal and meets the SL2 to the cruise port at Silver Line Way. Princess says your flight should land by 1 pm on the day you sail.

Logan Airport is a few miles from the cruise port. With luggage, a taxi or rideshare is the simplest way to the ship. The Silver Line is the cheapest, and it means one change of bus.
Every cruise line page we read sends you to the same address, 1 Black Falcon Avenue, but your cruise documents confirm the terminal. The terminal guide explains why.
How far is Logan Airport from the Boston cruise port?
Logan is 2.8 to 4 miles from the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, depending on which cruise line's page you read. The time ranges more widely. Princess calls it a 10-minute drive, while Holland America allows 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic.
| Cruise line page | Distance | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Holland America | About 2.8 miles | 45 to 60 minutes, depending on traffic |
| Norwegian | 3.2 km | About 10 minutes |
| Royal Caribbean | 4 miles | Not given |
| Princess | Not given | A 10-minute drive |
None of these pages is dated. We would plan on Holland America's time, because it is the only one that allows for traffic.
What is the easiest way from Logan to the cruise terminal?
A taxi or rideshare, straight to the terminal. Holland America says Uber, Lyft and taxis are readily available, and it put the fare at about $40 when we checked on 3 November 2026, calling it an approximate figure. Norwegian's page also says about $40, but describes that as round-trip.
Give the driver 1 Black Falcon Avenue, Boston. At the terminal, port officers direct cars to the drop-off area, Princess says. Celebrity also names taxis and ridesharing as the way to reach the terminal.
We could not read Logan's own ground transportation pages, which Massport publishes, so we do not describe where taxis and ride apps pick up. Follow the airport's signs from baggage claim.
Can you take the Silver Line from Logan to the cruise port?
Yes, with one change. Take the Silver Line SL1 from your airport terminal to Silver Line Way, then the SL2 toward Design Center, and get off on Drydock Avenue near Black Falcon Avenue. The SL1 is free from Logan, and the MBTA says it picks up at every terminal.
- Board the SL1 at your terminal, toward South Station.
- Get off at Silver Line Way.
- Cross to the outbound side and board an SL2, Norwegian says.
- Get off at the stop for Black Falcon Avenue. The MBTA lists Drydock Ave @ Black Falcon Ave on the SL2. Norwegian names the stop at Black Falcon Avenue and Design Center Place and says the terminal is across the street, while Princess allows about a 10-minute walk from Drydock Avenue.
The MBTA's Logan page says service from the airport is always free, and that you need a ticket or pass for a connection to a bus, subway or ferry. It does not spell out the SL2 change at Silver Line Way, so have a fare ready. The SL2 is priced as a subway ride, $2.40 one way when we checked on 3 November 2026.
- Paying. Tap a contactless card, phone or watch at the reader by the bus door. The MBTA also sells CharlieTickets and CharlieCards at fare machines in the Logan terminals.
- Who it suits. Travelers with light bags who do not mind a change. With large suitcases or children, the taxi is less work.
- Alerts. On 3 November 2026 the SL2 page showed a weekday evening detour, so check alerts before you travel.
Which way does a car go from Logan to the cruise terminal?
Through the Ted Williams Tunnel, which is tolled, to Exit 25 for South Boston inside the tunnel. Royal Caribbean and Princess both route drivers this way, then along Seaport Boulevard and Northern Avenue, onto Tide Street and Drydock Avenue, and right onto Black Falcon Avenue.
Royal Caribbean's page gives a toll amount, but it is undated and we could not confirm the current rate, so we leave it out. The terminal guide has the turn-by-turn route, and the parking guide covers where to leave a car.
Can you fly into Boston on the day of your cruise?
You can, but leave a margin. Princess's flight guideline for Boston is that the latest arrival cannot be after 1 pm, for all flights. Royal Caribbean says many guests find it easiest to arrive a day before sailing. If you miss the ship, it holds you responsible for the cost of meeting it at the next port, unless its travel protection covers the reason.
- Norwegian. If you finished Online Check-In, arrive at the terminal at least 1 hour before the embarkation time on your documents. Everyone must be on board 1 hour before departure, or they will not sail.
- Royal Caribbean. If travel delays make you miss the ship, call its Emergency Travel Team. It says rejoining at the next port is possible in some cases, with the right documents.
- Holland America. Its transfers run on embarkation and disembarkation days only. If you booked your own flights, it asks for your flight details at least 14 days before departure.
We would fly in the day before. A morning flight that runs a few hours late leaves little time before Princess's 1 pm guideline. The hotels guide covers the night before.
What is the earliest flight home after a Boston cruise?
Princess's guideline for Boston is a flight 5 hours after the ship's arrival, for all flights. Holland America says there is no luggage storage at the pier, so your bags stay with you once you are off the ship.
To get back to Logan by Silver Line, take the SL2 inbound to Silver Line Way and change to the SL1 toward the airport. Under a transfer pilot the MBTA began on 1 September 2026, you pay one fare for both rides if you use the same card or phone within two hours. Cash does not get the transfer.
What if your cruise ends in Quebec City or Montreal?
Then you fly home from Canada, not from Logan, and you need a passport book for that flight. U.S. Customs and Border Protection says U.S. citizens need a passport to enter the United States by air from Canada. Its only other air document is a NEXUS card, used at designated NEXUS sites.
33 of the 74 Canada and New England sailings on our schedule are one-way. The documents guide covers the rest.
Some one-way sailings end in Fort Lauderdale, San Juan or New Orleans. The flight home from there is domestic, and the TSA says travelers must be REAL ID compliant to board domestic flights, with a passport accepted instead.
How do you get from South Station to the cruise port?
Take the Silver Line SL2, which starts at South Station, toward Design Center. Amtrak's South Station is at 2 South Station, Boston, MA 02110, the northern end of the Northeast Corridor, served by Acela, the Northeast Regional and the Lake Shore Limited.
Norwegian's directions from South Station are the same as from the airport, minus the SL1: board an SL2 and get off at Black Falcon Avenue and Design Center Place. Princess says riders already in the city can take the Red Line to South Station and change to the SL2 there.
Amtrak says pick-up and drop-off at South Station is on Atlantic Avenue, between the bus and train terminals, if someone is meeting you with a car.
Do the cruise lines run airport transfers in Boston?
Holland America sells transfers, and says they run on embarkation and disembarkation days only, with unused transfers not refundable. We found no Boston transfer price on the line pages we read, so ask your line when you book. For a group of three or more, compare a per-person transfer with one taxi fare.
