Boston cruise season: cruises from Boston in 2026, 2027 and 2028

The Boston cruise season runs from April to October. Norwegian Breakaway's Bermuda trips start in April and run every week through the summer, and the busiest months are September and October, when the Canada and New England trips peak. From November to March nothing leaves Boston on the schedule we track, apart from Norwegian Breakaway's voyage of 8 November 2026.

When is the Boston cruise season?

On the schedule we track, cruises leave Boston from April to October. The 2027 season runs from 18 April 2027 to 31 October 2027, and 2028 from 16 April 2028 to 24 October 2028. September and October are the busiest months, with 19 and 14 departures in 2027.

When we wrote this on 3 November 2026, the schedule listed nothing from November 2027 to March 2028. We list only sailings that are on sale, so a month can gain departures later. Each month has its own page, such as September 2027, and cruises by month lists them all.

Are there cruises from Boston in 2026?

Almost none. When we wrote this on 3 November 2026, the only 2026 departure left on the schedule we track was Norwegian Breakaway's 14-night one-way voyage of 8 November 2026, which ends in New Orleans. The count left for 2026 today is 1, so anyone planning a cruise from Boston now is looking at 2027.

That November voyage calls at St. Thomas, St. Lucia, Grenada, Curaçao, Aruba and Grand Cayman, and you fly home from New Orleans. The Caribbean guide covers it and the other one-way trips south.

The 2027 season starts on 18 April 2027. If you want to sail soon, the last-minute page shows anything leaving in the next 60 days.

What cruises leave Boston in 2027?

The schedule we track lists 59 departures from Boston in 2027, from 18 April 2027 to 31 October 2027. Norwegian Breakaway sails to Bermuda every Sunday from April to August, Canada and New England trips run from June to October, and a few one-way voyages head to Florida and the Caribbean in October.

The 2027 Bermuda trips stop at Halifax on the way. Holland America's Volendam sails a 35-night voyage on 17 July 2027 by way of Newfoundland, Labrador, Greenland and Iceland to Norway, the Netherlands, Ireland and Northern Ireland, and back to Boston. The Europe and transatlantic guide covers it.

September 2027 has 19 departures and October 14, on lines that include Norwegian, Holland America, Regent, Oceania, Azamara and Windstar. On 3 November 2026 the lowest fare in 2027 was $679 per person, two sharing, with taxes and fees included.

What cruises leave Boston in 2028?

The schedule lists 63 departures in 2028, from 16 April 2028 to 24 October 2028. The pattern matches 2027, with Bermuda from April to August and Canada and New England peaking in September and October. The 2028 Bermuda trips sail straight to Bermuda and stay longer, and Royal Caribbean's Jewel of the Seas adds Friday departures in the fall.

On Cruisebound's itineraries, Breakaway's 2 May 2027 trip spends about 29 hours docked in Bermuda after a day in Halifax, while her 7 May 2028 trip spends about 48 hours there, by our arithmetic from the listed times. The Bermuda guide compares them.

Jewel of the Seas's sailings in 2028 are listed by only one of the two sources we check, and the schedule marks them. Celebrity's 2028 round trips are on Celebrity Summit, and Regent's new Seven Seas Prestige, Seabourn Quest and Oceania Aurelia appear in the fall. September 2028 has 21 departures.

When is fall foliage season on a cruise from Boston?

Late September to mid-October is the usual window for fall color in Nova Scotia, Tourism Nova Scotia says, with Cape Breton tending to peak before the south of the province. That falls in September and October, Boston's busiest months, when most Canada and New England departures leave.

Tourism Nova Scotia also says the colors build through late September and October and vary with region, elevation and weather, so no date is certain. Every Canada and New England sailing on the schedule calls at Halifax, and many also stop at Sydney, Nova Scotia. If you would rather sail in summer, Holland America's Volendam runs Canada and New England trips in June and July, and Norwegian Breakaway starts hers in late August.

What is the weather like in Boston during cruise season?

Cool in spring and fall and warm in summer. NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals for Boston Logan give an average high of 56°F in April, 82°F in July and 62°F in October. Rain falls through the year, between about 3.2 and 4 inches in each month from April to October.

Portland, Maine, a port of call on many Canada and New England itineraries, runs a few degrees cooler. These are the average daily highs and lows in °F:

Both are NOAA's 1991 to 2020 normals, rounded to the nearest degree. October is Portland's wettest month, at 5.25 inches. An October sailing leaves Boston with average lows in the 40s, so pack a warm layer for evenings on deck.

Do cruises from Boston sail in hurricane season?

Yes, from June onward. The National Hurricane Center gives the Atlantic hurricane season as 1 June to 30 November, with a peak on 10 September and most activity between mid-August and mid-October. That window covers Boston's busiest months and the October one-way trips to the Caribbean.

The Bermuda trips that leave from June to August fall inside the season, and those from mid-August fall in the period of most activity. Breakaway's 24 and 31 October 2027 Bermuda trips come just after it. The Hurricane Center adds that storms sometimes form before or after the official dates.

An average Atlantic season has 14 named storms, 7 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes, on its 1991 to 2020 figures. Read your cruise line's terms on itinerary changes before you book a late-summer or fall sailing.

Which month is cheapest for a cruise from Boston?

We cannot name one. Our fare records are too new to show when fares fall, and each month's low depends on which ships sail in it. On 3 November 2026 the lowest fare was $679 in May 2027, $839 in September 2027 and $889 in October 2027, per person, two sharing, with taxes and fees included.
