Boston cruise port: where Flynn Cruiseport Boston is and how to get there

The cruise lines' own pages send you to 1 Black Falcon Avenue in South Boston, the Raymond L. Flynn Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, also called Flynn Cruiseport Boston. The Silver Line SL2 from South Station stops at Drydock Avenue and Black Falcon Avenue, and the lines put Logan Airport 2.8 to 4 miles away. Your cruise documents confirm the building and your arrival time.

The cruise lines' own port pages all send you to one address: 1 Black Falcon Avenue, Boston, MA 02210, in South Boston. Every sailing on our schedule starts in Boston, but no source we can read ties a particular sailing to a particular building, so the terminal named in your cruise documents is the final word.

  • Terminal. The Raymond L. Flynn Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, also called Flynn Cruiseport Boston.
  • Address. 1 Black Falcon Avenue, Boston, MA 02210. Holland America notes that no mail is delivered there.
  • By public transport. The Silver Line SL2 from South Station, toward Design Center.
  • From Logan Airport. 2.8 to 4 miles, depending on which line's page you read.
  • Parking. A lot on Fargo Street, booked ahead, with a free shuttle. See cruise parking in Boston.

Where is the Boston cruise terminal?

The Boston cruise terminal is the Raymond L. Flynn Black Falcon Cruise Terminal at 1 Black Falcon Avenue, Boston, MA 02210. Princess and Royal Caribbean use that full name. Holland America calls it Flynn Cruiseport Boston, and Norwegian calls it Cruiseport Boston's Black Falcon Cruise Terminal. They are the same place.

Celebrity's Boston page says cruises from Boston depart from the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal.

Holland America adds a detail the other lines leave out. Its page says Boston has two cruise ship terminals, Terminal 1 and the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal, and that both have the same address. The address alone does not tell you which building you check in at, so read your boarding pass.

The terminal is not in the downtown core. Norwegian's directions take you along Drydock Avenue into the Boston Marine Industrial Park, and Royal Caribbean's follow Drydock Avenue to the end of the Boston Design Center before the turn onto Black Falcon Avenue. Celebrity says the walk to downtown is a long one, about 30 minutes to the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum and 40 minutes to Faneuil Hall Marketplace.

Which cruise lines sail from the Boston cruise terminal?

All 123 sailings on our schedule start in Boston, on 10 cruise lines. Five of those lines publish a Boston port page or FAQ that names the Black Falcon terminal:

Holland America29Flynn Cruiseport Boston, Black Falcon Cruise Terminal
Celebrity10Black Falcon Cruise Terminal

These pages describe the port, not a particular sailing. For the smaller lines on our schedule we did not read a Boston port page, so take the terminal from your booking documents.

How do you drive to the Boston cruise terminal?

From Logan Airport, take the Ted Williams Tunnel, which is tolled, and leave at Exit 25 for South Boston inside the tunnel. Princess and Royal Caribbean both give this route. It ends on Black Falcon Avenue, where port officers send you either to drop-off or to parking.

  1. In the tunnel, take Exit 25, South Boston, from the right lane.
  2. Go straight through the first traffic lights. At the next signal, turn right onto Seaport Boulevard, which becomes Northern Avenue.
  3. Turn right onto Tide Street, then immediately left onto Drydock Avenue.
  4. Follow Drydock Avenue and turn right onto Black Falcon Avenue.

From the south, Princess says to take Exit 20 from I-93 north to I-90 East, toward Logan Airport, and from the west to follow the Massachusetts Turnpike the same way. Both routes reach Exit 25 in the tunnel. Norwegian's route from the north leaves I-93 South at the Purchase Street exit inside the tunnel, then follows Seaport Boulevard, D Street, Summer Street and Drydock Avenue.

None of these pages carries a date, so check the route against a live map on the day.

Where do you get dropped off at the Boston cruise port?

Drive onto Black Falcon Avenue and follow the port officers, who direct cars to the drop-off area. Princess says this applies to rideshares and to friends or family dropping you off. If you are parking, Royal Caribbean asks you to drop passengers and luggage at the terminal first, and Norwegian says you may do the same.

For pickup after the cruise, Princess says drivers wait in the cell phone lot at 42 Fid Kennedy Avenue. It is a quarter-mile from the port, just east of the intersection with Tide Street, and Princess says the route to the terminal is well marked.

Can you take the T to the Boston cruise terminal?

Yes. Take the Silver Line SL2 from South Station toward Design Center and get off on Drydock Avenue near Black Falcon Avenue. The MBTA prices the SL2 as a subway ride, and the one-way fare was $2.40 when we checked on 3 November 2026.

The SL2 runs from South Station through Courthouse, World Trade Center and Silver Line Way, then along Northern Avenue and Drydock Avenue. Its stop list includes Drydock Ave @ Black Falcon Ave and Drydock Ave @ Design Center Place.

The lines describe the last stretch differently. Norwegian names the stop at Black Falcon Avenue and Design Center Place and says the terminal is just across the street. Princess allows about a 10-minute walk from Drydock Avenue to Black Falcon Avenue. With bags, allow for the longer one.

  • Paying. You can tap a contactless card, phone or watch at the Charlie reader by the bus door, or use a CharlieCard or CharlieTicket, the MBTA says.
  • Changing from the Red Line. Under a pilot the MBTA started on 1 September 2026, you pay only the highest fare for transfers within two hours, as long as you use the same payment method each time. Cash and stored-value CharlieTickets do not get the transfer.
  • Alerts. On 3 November 2026 the SL2 page showed a weekday evening detour, so check its alerts before you set off.

From Logan Airport, the SL1 is free and connects to the SL2 at Silver Line Way. The Logan Airport guide walks through that change.

How do you get to the cruise terminal from Logan Airport?

A taxi or rideshare is the simplest way, and Holland America says Uber, Lyft and taxis are readily available. It put the Logan to terminal fare at about $40 when we checked on 3 November 2026, and calls that an approximate fare. Norwegian's page also says about $40, but describes it as round-trip.

The lines disagree on the distance. Holland America gives about 2.8 miles, Royal Caribbean 4 miles and Norwegian 3.2 km. Princess calls it a 10-minute drive, while Holland America allows 45 to 60 minutes depending on traffic. The Logan Airport guide compares the options.

Where do you park for a cruise from Boston?

At the cruise parking lot entered from 93 Fargo Street, booked ahead online, with a free shuttle to the terminal. Princess gives that address and says you must reserve online to guarantee a spot. Parking.com, the SP+ site that takes the bookings, gives the same entrance and asks you to arrive at least 2 hours before the ship leaves.

Royal Caribbean's and Norwegian's Boston pages still describe a different garage across the street from the terminal, at different rates. The parking guide sets out the prices we found and where the pages disagree.

What time should you arrive at the Boston cruise terminal?

Arrive at the time or in the window your line gives you. Four of the five lines below assign one, and arriving early does not get you on board sooner. Royal Caribbean says early arrivals will not be able to begin boarding, and Holland America asks you to come no more than 20 minutes before your time.

LineWhat its page says
NorwegianArrive at least 1 hour before the embarkation time on your documents if you completed Online Check-In, or 2 hours if you did not. Be on board 1 hour before departure, or you will not sail.
Holland AmericaYour check-in time arrives about 14 days before sailing, in the Navigator app. Boarding begins at noon, and everyone must be checked in at least 90 minutes before the published sailing time.
PrincessBoston uses Arrival Groups for sailings from 3 September 2026. You pick one in the Princess app from 30 days out, or Princess assigns one 24 hours before.
Royal CaribbeanArrive in the slot you picked at Royal App check-in. Be checked in and on board 90 minutes before port operations close.
CelebrityPick an arrival time when you check in, from 45 days before the cruise. Finish before the All Aboard Time in your documents.

Royal Caribbean also warns that security and immigration procedures cause delays at the pier. The first-time cruiser FAQ covers the rest of the day, and the documents guide covers what to show at check-in.

What should you know about luggage and accessibility at the terminal?

You cannot leave bags at the terminal. Holland America says there is no luggage storage at the pier, so on the day you get off the ship, your bags stay with you until your flight, train or car.

  • On the way in. Princess lets early arrivals drop off luggage, then asks them to return at their Arrival Group time. Holland America says checked bags are loaded from 1:00 pm and reach cabins later in the afternoon.
  • Accessibility. Princess says guests with accessibility needs follow their assigned Arrival Group, with dedicated assistance and accessible lanes at the terminal. We found no Boston-specific page from the lines on wheelchairs at the terminal, so arrange any help with your line before you sail.

Where is the official port information?

Holland America and Norwegian point readers to the port's own pages on massport.com for parking and port details. Massport's site blocks automated reading, so nothing on this page is taken from it. Where a fact here comes from a cruise line, the line is named, and the pages are listed under sources.
